Name the top 2 best live concerts or gigs you have been to and why?

Both mine are Foo Fighters - one was a big rock concert in Melbourne with amazing sound and atmosphere, the other an acoustic show at Sydney Opera House which had a different type of atmosphere and sound, but was still incredible.

The 2 best ones I've seen are vastly different.

Van Halen the first year Eddie was elected Guitarist of the Year by some group. The whole group had a real brotherly feel on the stage and they played just super fantastic.

Cindi Lauper on her "She's So Unusual" tour. Great songs, and Cindi is a riot on the stage.

ben harper - met him after it.. at north sydney independent theatre (about 500 of us) (+ eddie vedder came on stage for songs)

gomez - enmore theatre sydney.. gomez - the most beautifully synchronised band i've heard live..

Mine would be CKY in 2005 becuase we got to meet the band, get autographs and just hang out with them, then The 69 Eyes last moth, they are amazing live!
Wishbone Ash in the Sudbury Arena (Canada) 1972/3

Why? I was front row and could watch Andy Powell %26amp; Ted Turner's twin lead guitar attack up close! Also the 'Window Pane' acid was great!

Pink Floyd, final gig of the 'Animals' tour, Montreal Forum 1976/7?

Why? Other than the music, and being fairly close to the stage, the floating animals were really cool. And oh yeah, the acid was great there too!
Ozzfest 06 - Moshpits

Badfish (Sublime Tribute) - front row :) and amazing music
I am a HUGE Queensryche fan and have been to just about every concert when they came to town. If you want to talk about a band that always follows their heart and instincts when it comes to creating music this is it! They don't worry about if it will sell or not, that is not their focus. Their concerts are full of energy, and I always have a great time.

On the way other end of the spectrum, last year I went to a Big and Rich concert, and was completely impressed. For 'country' music, they put on a great live show, complete with heavy guitar and pyrotechnics. I would see them again.
Bob Marley and the Wailers Montreal May 1976

Police and GO-GOs New Haven January 1981

Although I had one extraordinary night of music in NYC in the summer 1982 or 83.

At Pier 83 7 PM Steel Pulse opened for Herbie Hancock

Radio City Music Hall at midnight Berlin opened for Thompson Twins

Sorry, number 1 hands down- James Brown
