Do you think lottery money could be put to better use by backing voluntary societies like the RNLI?

Instead of giving money to theatres and opera houses etc would it not be better spent on lifeboats, hospices , air ambulances etc which depend on public donations to survive?

I believe the RNLI, RSPCA, Cancer Research, etc, should be government funded, instead of the money being pumped into the arts (Royal Ballet, etc) %26amp; sports, etc.

I do agree with you that the majority of the proceeds from the lottery should go to more deserving causes like those above, instead of for example, being 'diverted' to help pay for the 2012 Olympics.

Just my opinion..

If you really believe that you would do even better to give your pound direct and ignore the lottery
If you want money to go to the RNLI, you could donate it directly, instead of buying a lottery ticket.

You know which causes the lottery helps - if you object, don't buy a ticket.
the lottery is just a form of tax, usually for the poorest members of society so yes the money should go to things like hospitals (if we must have it) rather than theatres %26amp; the olympic games and art exibitions which are enjoyed by affluent people who don't have a 'need' to play the lottery
