3 more reasons to go to Australia:

1. See how a real working multicultural Society works. Sydney is one of the world's most multicultural cities. See how we do it our way, without all the in fighting that happens in other places. They all just get along.

2. Get more frequent flyer points going to Sydney than on almost any other route you can fly. Fly from anywhere in the northern hemisphere and you might find yourself with enough points to make a second trip (its's a long way!)

3. Sydney is Australia's primary air transport hub, and is a great place to hop to other places you might want to visit. Blue mountains landscapes and scenery, Melbourne culture, Canberra national institutions, Adelaide wineries.

Sydney is likely to be your first stop over, so use it to look around.

4. Tropfest - every year Sydney holds the worlds premier short film festival. The festival is reknowned for requiring all films entered to have a specific item revealed in the film (say a strawberry, or a razor or something) showing it was made that year. Famous actors, directors from all over come here (looking for talent, showing their talent, appreciating their talent).

5. Best place to see the southern cross and many other astronomical oddities. Take a trip to Mt stromlo, Canberra or to the famous Dish at Parkes in rural NSW. You could even just sit on a hill and look up at night and see sights you will never ever see in the northern hemisphere.

6. See the history of a unique country first hand. Visit the rocks district of Sydney and see for yourself how sydney went from a prison to one of the worlds more liberal democracies, and the hard choices that were made to get there.

I suppose hypothetically you have to try to persuade your parents.

Therefore I'd say one you would need to include is:

Australia is one of the safest countries in the world to travel to, we also have low crime rate.

Edit: Just in answer to: "Australians blame us because we won against the british and britain had nowhere else to drop off their prisoners so they took them all to Australia."

The average Aussie doesn't care one way or the other if Americans won or lost the Revolutionary War. It's not something most of us are interested in.

Typical ill-informed answer, in the Australian Section, by someone who knows nothing about us.
One reason can be that you can take on an Australian's veiw of the Americans fighting the British in the revolutionary war-Australians blame us because we won against the british and britain had nowhere else to drop off their prisoners so they took them all to Australia. Another is the Aborigines- the 1st people that inhabited Australia-and their culture is very unique. Bondi Beach is gorgeous and has an ice pool (a pool on the side of the rocks on the edge of the beach; during the winter there [summer here] the water from antarctia ends up in sydney and washes up into the pool and people jump into the pool for sport). Another reason is that there was a (supposed) extinct prehistoric tree that all the scientists thought were extinct, until they found the first one in a couple million years down the street from the sydney opera house and right next to the bridge thats across the sydney harbor-it's really cool and there's a bunch those trees on manly beach. (funny name for a beach, but very beautiful)
