Sounds like the challenge is to figure out the criteria - e.g. if it's based on engineering feat in it's time, it'd be Pyramids %26amp; Stonehenge 1 %26amp; 2.

But can't there be a moving wonder ?

I Saw the space shuttle launch in 1996 - a night launch, from about 4 miles away across the water. I'd got a pass into the space center %26amp; driven up from Plantation overnight to watch. That has got to be the most impressive of the "works of man" that I thin I have ever seen. Once in a lifetime type of ever. I've seen about 4 or 5 of the places on the list %26amp; they can't compare - the most impressive thing about the Sydney Opera is the superb out of this world cafe on the terrace at the back - I SAt there having lamb in batter, with English beer, during the Olympics, watching the yachting in the harbor 75F light wind - awesome.

But I've seen Nascar races, NHRA drag racing, Indy car %26amp; Superbikes - none of them can hold a candle to a shuttle launch :-)

P.S. Hoping to visit Machu Picchu, Peru in a year or so.
i barely looked at your list ...just because i wanted to have some fun with this...my seven wonders...

Niagara Falls

The great Wall of China

Amazon jungle

Canadian Rockies

The Arctic tundra

It's retarted to let internet voters decide on the seven wonders.

This is my prediction for the list:

- statue of liberty

- that statue of jesus (forgot the name, but it portrays jesus and i've seen it in movies)

- mount rushmore

- hollywood

- the grand canyon

- the eiffel tower (the one in las vegas, not paris)

There has been much controversy over this new wonders of the the world. I do not believe ancient constructions should even be considered. I believe that yes, we can recognize new wonders. But they should be MODERN wonders. The great mall, the immaculate bridges and skyscrapers, the supersonic jet, the flying cars. Let appreciate what new technology and science has led us to.
The person who started this nonsense (the owner of the website) has been accused of (and linked to) promoting the tourist industry.

This isn't about determining the "wonders of the world", it's about generating revenue for the hotel and airline industries.

Don't vote, and tell others not to either.

Who built Stonehenge and why?

I have other questions that I will name all of them here about the wonders of the world...

1. In South Africa a tree called Jacaranda blooms mauve flowers... can I buy one in the states and will it grow in Dallas?

2. The Great Wall of China is one of the wonders of the world. It winds east to west for about 4,000 miles... How far is 4,000 in the states? From Alaska to Miami maybe?

3. What's so special about the Taj Mahal (one of the wonders of the world)?

4. What's the bridge called that takes you to downtown Sydney, Australia and overlooks The Sydney Opera House? And where can I find a gorgeous Australian man to marry?!?!?!

5. How big is one Canadian glacier?

6. These are just for fun, and I really don't need the answers, but if anyone knows feel free.... HAPPY HALLOWEENY!

Who built Stonehenge and why?imax theater

Stonehenge was built in stages over several hundred years so no one person or group did it. According to a book published in about 1965 "Stonehenge Decoded" by Gerald S. Hawkins, early computer studies showed that the large stones were carefully sited to mark midsummer and midwinter sunrises and other alignments. These were accurate 3000 years ago but not now due to the "precession of the equinoxes". You can get copies and reviews off the site named for the big river in Brazil.

Jacarandas are grown throughout the area between Sydney and Rockhampton in Australia. When the flowers fall in early summer or late spring they don't smell too good. The blue jacaranda comes from Mexico and central America. They don't like frost so if you get frosts in Dallas you might have trouble.

Who built Stonehenge and why?classical music opera theater

Hope this help
Only answers for the ones that I know about.

Legend has it that Merlin built Stonehenge. To have done that AND still been around when Arthur is supposed to have existed historically means he would have lasted a good long while. Still, he was a powerful wizard, so anything is possible I guess.

1. Jacarandas prefer a warm coastal climate, and suffer under heavy frosts (and snowfall, I would assume). I don't know what climate you have in Dallas, but I would say that if you regularly get freezing conditions in winter a jacaranda won't grow there.

4. The bridge in Sydney is the Sydney Harbour Bridge. Gorgeous Australian men are best found in Australia. :-) If you go to Sydney at Mardi Gras time you will see lots of gorgeous Australian men, but they will be more interested in marrying other gorgeous Australian men.

Maori culture in australia and new zealand?dream theater

just to let you know Maori culture only relates to New Zealand,Australia is a total different country and any New Zealanders living here are considered foreigners like any one else from overseas,I'm Australian and I'm married to a Kiwi (New Zealander) and i can tell you we don't like being referred to as new zealanders and like wise for the Kiwi's being called Aussies,in Australia the native culture is Aboriginal and in new zealand its the Maori culture both countries are great and I'm sure you'll love both of them but maybe do a little research before you go-enjoy your trip :)

p.s a Hangi is a traditional Maori way of cooking, where they dig a large hole and put hot coals in then they put the food in wrapped in leaves (normally banana) then more coals and cover the hole in and let cook for hours-un-believable meat it just falls apart it so tender you'll love it

Just google it
Australia is not part of New Zealand and vice versa. They are separate countries, each with their own laws, governments, cultures and politics.

There's a massive amount of information on the internet regarding the tourist attractions you mention as well as maori culture in New Zealand. The web can answer you much more than any of us can in a few words.

Enjoy your holiday.

What kind should I wear to a ballet?

The ballet will take place the san francisco opera house. I've been to nutcracker tons of times, i normaly wear a dress. Should I still wear a dress.

When I go some people come in suits and dresses while some com in jeans. Do you think it's inappropriate to come to a formal ballet in jeans?

What kind should I wear to a ballet?imax theatre

i've been to operas and ballets, so here are suggestions. I think you should wear something a bit more than jeans, even though some people wear them. You don't have to wear a formal dress, but a casual one. If you don't want to wear a dress, you can try dressy skirt or pants, and just make sure that the top isn't too casual.

What kind should I wear to a ballet?performing show opera theater

I know some people come in jeans but it is inappropriate. Ladies should wear dresses, skirts or nice pant suits and men should wear suits or sport jackets and dress pants
Most definitely wear a dress. Its just right. I do ballet yay me.

Vegemite:

We're happy little Vegemites

As bright as bright can be.

We all enjoy our Vegemite

For breakfast, lunch, and tea.

Our mother says we're growing

stronger every single week.

Because we love our Vegemite.

We all adore our Vegemite.

It puts a rose in every cheek!

Meat pie:

The Great Meat Pie

The great meat pie was a tidy size,

And it took a week to make it,

A day to carry it to the shop,

And just a week to bake it.

And if you'd seen it,

I'll be bound,

Your wonder you'd scarce govern.

They were forced to break the front wall down

to get it in the oven.

It too full thirty sacks of flour,

It's a fact now that I utter,

Three hundred pails of water, too,

And a hundred tubs of butter.

The crust was nearly seven feet thick,

You couldn't easily bruise it,

And the rolling pin was such a size

It took ten men to use it.

There were twenty-five spareribs of pork,

I'm sure I'm not mistaken,

With two and thirty hams for York,

And twenty sides of bacon.

The pie was made by fifty cooks,

And all of them first raters,

And then they filled up all the nooks

with a ton of kidney 'taters.

Boomerang:

Down under in Australia I had a boomerang.

It made me feel like singing, and here's the song I sang:

Oh,

Love is like a boomerang, and all you have to do is

Send your love around the world and love comes back to you.

Round and round and round and round and love comes back to you.

Love is like a boomerang, and all you have to do is

Send your love around the world and love comes back to you.

Round and round and round and round and love comes back to you.

Oh,

Love is like a boomerang so don't be shy.

Send your love around the world just like a boomerang. A boomerang,

Oh!

Love is like a boomerang , and all you have to do is

Send your love around the world and love comes back to you.

Kangaroo/Boxing Kangaroo:

There's an old Australian stockman, lying, dying,

and he gets himself up on one elbow,

and he turns to his mates,

who are gathered 'round him and he says:

Watch me wallabys feed mate.

Watch me wallabys feed.

They're a dangerous breed mate.

So watch me wallabys feed.

Altogether now!

Tie me kangaroo down sport,

tie me kangaroo down.

Tie me kangaroo down sport,

Don't go acting the fool, Curl,

just keep me cockatoo cool.

He lives somewhere out on the track, Mac,

so take me koala back.

so let me Abos go loose.

Hey True Blue, don't say you've gone

Say you've knocked off for a smoko

And you'll be back later on

Hey True Blue, Hey True Blue

Give it to me straight

Face to face

Are you really disappearing,

Just another dying race,

Hey True Blue.

True Blue, is it me and you?

Is it Mum and Dad, is it a cockatoo?

Is it standing by your mate

When he's in a fight?

Or will she be right?

True Blue, I'm asking you...

Hey True Blue, can you bear the load?

Will you tie it up with wire,

Just to keep the show on the road?

Hey True Blue, Hey True Blue, now be Fair Dinkum

Is your heart still there?

If they sell us out like sponge cake

Do you really care?

Hey True Blue.

True Blue, is it me and you?

Is it Mum and Dad, is it a cockatoo?

Is it standing by your mate

When she's in a fight?

Or will she be right?
