Sounds like the challenge is to figure out the criteria - e.g. if it's based on engineering feat in it's time, it'd be Pyramids %26amp; Stonehenge 1 %26amp; 2.

But can't there be a moving wonder ?

I Saw the space shuttle launch in 1996 - a night launch, from about 4 miles away across the water. I'd got a pass into the space center %26amp; driven up from Plantation overnight to watch. That has got to be the most impressive of the "works of man" that I thin I have ever seen. Once in a lifetime type of ever. I've seen about 4 or 5 of the places on the list %26amp; they can't compare - the most impressive thing about the Sydney Opera is the superb out of this world cafe on the terrace at the back - I SAt there having lamb in batter, with English beer, during the Olympics, watching the yachting in the harbor 75F light wind - awesome.

But I've seen Nascar races, NHRA drag racing, Indy car %26amp; Superbikes - none of them can hold a candle to a shuttle launch :-)

P.S. Hoping to visit Machu Picchu, Peru in a year or so.
i barely looked at your list ...just because i wanted to have some fun with this...my seven wonders...

Niagara Falls

The great Wall of China

Amazon jungle

Canadian Rockies

The Arctic tundra

It's retarted to let internet voters decide on the seven wonders.

This is my prediction for the list:

- statue of liberty

- that statue of jesus (forgot the name, but it portrays jesus and i've seen it in movies)

- mount rushmore

- hollywood

- the grand canyon

- the eiffel tower (the one in las vegas, not paris)

- the sears tower

there, u have the 7 wonders of ame... i mean. 7 wonders of the world!

There has been much controversy over this new wonders of the the world. I do not believe ancient constructions should even be considered. I believe that yes, we can recognize new wonders. But they should be MODERN wonders. The great mall, the immaculate bridges and skyscrapers, the supersonic jet, the flying cars. Let appreciate what new technology and science has led us to.
The person who started this nonsense (the owner of the website) has been accused of (and linked to) promoting the tourist industry.

This isn't about determining the "wonders of the world", it's about generating revenue for the hotel and airline industries.

Don't vote, and tell others not to either.

Who built Stonehenge and why?

I have other questions that I will name all of them here about the wonders of the world...

1. In South Africa a tree called Jacaranda blooms mauve flowers... can I buy one in the states and will it grow in Dallas?

2. The Great Wall of China is one of the wonders of the world. It winds east to west for about 4,000 miles... How far is 4,000 in the states? From Alaska to Miami maybe?

3. What's so special about the Taj Mahal (one of the wonders of the world)?

4. What's the bridge called that takes you to downtown Sydney, Australia and overlooks The Sydney Opera House? And where can I find a gorgeous Australian man to marry?!?!?!

5. How big is one Canadian glacier?

6. These are just for fun, and I really don't need the answers, but if anyone knows feel free.... HAPPY HALLOWEENY!

Who built Stonehenge and why?imax theater

Stonehenge was built in stages over several hundred years so no one person or group did it. According to a book published in about 1965 "Stonehenge Decoded" by Gerald S. Hawkins, early computer studies showed that the large stones were carefully sited to mark midsummer and midwinter sunrises and other alignments. These were accurate 3000 years ago but not now due to the "precession of the equinoxes". You can get copies and reviews off the site named for the big river in Brazil.

Jacarandas are grown throughout the area between Sydney and Rockhampton in Australia. When the flowers fall in early summer or late spring they don't smell too good. The blue jacaranda comes from Mexico and central America. They don't like frost so if you get frosts in Dallas you might have trouble.

Who built Stonehenge and why?classical music opera theater

Hope this help
Only answers for the ones that I know about.

Legend has it that Merlin built Stonehenge. To have done that AND still been around when Arthur is supposed to have existed historically means he would have lasted a good long while. Still, he was a powerful wizard, so anything is possible I guess.

1. Jacarandas prefer a warm coastal climate, and suffer under heavy frosts (and snowfall, I would assume). I don't know what climate you have in Dallas, but I would say that if you regularly get freezing conditions in winter a jacaranda won't grow there.

4. The bridge in Sydney is the Sydney Harbour Bridge. Gorgeous Australian men are best found in Australia. :-) If you go to Sydney at Mardi Gras time you will see lots of gorgeous Australian men, but they will be more interested in marrying other gorgeous Australian men.

Maori culture in australia and new zealand?dream theater

just to let you know Maori culture only relates to New Zealand,Australia is a total different country and any New Zealanders living here are considered foreigners like any one else from overseas,I'm Australian and I'm married to a Kiwi (New Zealander) and i can tell you we don't like being referred to as new zealanders and like wise for the Kiwi's being called Aussies,in Australia the native culture is Aboriginal and in new zealand its the Maori culture both countries are great and I'm sure you'll love both of them but maybe do a little research before you go-enjoy your trip :)

p.s a Hangi is a traditional Maori way of cooking, where they dig a large hole and put hot coals in then they put the food in wrapped in leaves (normally banana) then more coals and cover the hole in and let cook for hours-un-believable meat it just falls apart it so tender you'll love it

Just google it
Australia is not part of New Zealand and vice versa. They are separate countries, each with their own laws, governments, cultures and politics.

There's a massive amount of information on the internet regarding the tourist attractions you mention as well as maori culture in New Zealand. The web can answer you much more than any of us can in a few words.

Enjoy your holiday.

What kind should I wear to a ballet?

The ballet will take place the san francisco opera house. I've been to nutcracker tons of times, i normaly wear a dress. Should I still wear a dress.

When I go some people come in suits and dresses while some com in jeans. Do you think it's inappropriate to come to a formal ballet in jeans?

What kind should I wear to a ballet?imax theatre

i've been to operas and ballets, so here are suggestions. I think you should wear something a bit more than jeans, even though some people wear them. You don't have to wear a formal dress, but a casual one. If you don't want to wear a dress, you can try dressy skirt or pants, and just make sure that the top isn't too casual.

What kind should I wear to a ballet?performing show opera theater

I know some people come in jeans but it is inappropriate. Ladies should wear dresses, skirts or nice pant suits and men should wear suits or sport jackets and dress pants
Most definitely wear a dress. Its just right. I do ballet yay me.

The great meat pie was a tidy size,

And it took a week to make it,

A day to carry it to the shop,

And just a week to bake it.

And if you'd seen it,

I'll be bound,

Your wonder you'd scarce govern.

They were forced to break the front wall down

to get it in the oven.

It too full thirty sacks of flour,

It's a fact now that I utter,

Three hundred pails of water, too,

And a hundred tubs of butter.

The crust was nearly seven feet thick,

You couldn't easily bruise it,

And the rolling pin was such a size

It took ten men to use it.

There were twenty-five spareribs of pork,

I'm sure I'm not mistaken,

With two and thirty hams for York,

And twenty sides of bacon.

The pie was made by fifty cooks,

And all of them first raters,

And then they filled up all the nooks

with a ton of kidney 'taters.

Boomerang:

Down under in Australia I had a boomerang.

It made me feel like singing, and here's the song I sang:

Round and round and round and round and love comes back to you.

Just another dying race,

Hey True Blue.

True Blue, is it me and you?

Is it Mum and Dad, is it a cockatoo?

Is it standing by your mate

When he's in a fight?

Or will she be right?

True Blue, I'm asking you...

Hey True Blue, can you bear the load?

Will you tie it up with wire,

Just to keep the show on the road?

Think you can interpret this dream?

Okay my friend had a dream last night and she wanted me to post it up here to see if anyone could interpret it for the fun of it:

"ive had it before like 2 or 3 years ago but i didnt know the guy in it. but there was this dark haired guy and he was really really hot! he saw me in a play and he was really really really rich like billionaire rich and we started talking and we got to know each other but the whole time this other guy was looking at me and everytime he would i would look back and smile! But i was dating this other guy but this was set in the 30's or 40's also ! It was at a opera house and everytime i was with the dark haired guy the other guys face would instantly look sad! And he dark haired guy pulled out this ring and proposed to me in front of everyone and i was on stage and i looked at the other guy and he was looking so so sad and he might die so i walk over to him and kiss him and i turn to the dark haired guy and say im sorry i cant but im in love with this guy.

Ever heard of the Phantom of the Opera?
I've had similar dreams, but it involved being at the after-party of a premiere It had to do with ships and docks and old cement breaking up and an island, which, as it turned out, was only a dream. This dream (your dream) is only a dream. It is probably Ryan in both roles. Men are at least 3 people in one, depending on their life experiences. If you will be dreaming of a third man, he will also be Ryan. If you dream of only two, then you are going to be happy. You will only have to deal with 2 aspects of his personality.
you loe both but one more..?LOL

I love our wedding... BUTTTT.... Help!!!?

Here's the deal... I ?LOVE? everything my fiance and I have picked out for our December wedding. Our colors are: apple red, white, black %26amp; accents of gold. The ceremony and reception is going to be in an older restored Opera House. It's gorgeous. But, I feel like I need something that kind of *pops* out at people. Both my fiance and myself are out going, fun people. I feel like while our wedding is going to be beauitul, and classy. I want something that is totally 'us', crazy, and unique. Anyone have any ideas for a cool cake, decorations, favors??

Thanks in advanced!

I love our wedding... BUTTTT.... Help!!!?comedy club

red, white, black w/gold in an old Opera House?? OMG, you could do SO much with that!!! Does Phantom of the Opera ring a bell???

I mean hey, if you're talking "crazy"...during the bridal dance when he's supposed to carry you off...have him put on the phantom mask before whisking you away...you'd be the damsel in distress like the movie!

For "favors", you could simply place a long stemmed rose at each place setting w/your thank you note attched w/a pretty white or gold ribbon tied to it. My friends had a live "brass band" at their reception and they actually danced to "The Phantom of the Opera" song...it started out like the traditional version and then they switched over to a pre-recorded dance version of it...it was SO awesome!

Centerpieces could be assorted from table to table to include top hats/white gloves-opera glasses w/operal gloves-lace fold out fans w/strands of pearls...etc...surrounded by tealights/votives-representative of the candles they used to use on stage.

Your wedding program, should you choose to do one, could be fashioned to look like a playbill....

I could go on and on, but who's to say you even like the Phantom idea!

Hey, you could also do a vegas theme and give scratch offs as favors, have poker chips and cards as part of the centerpieces (people may actually play w/them!)...gold plastic coins thrown about the tables.....there's alot you can do w/that theme as well!

I love our wedding... BUTTTT.... Help!!!?sheet music opera theater

I once went to a wedding where instead of cake it was a bunch of different types of pie.
just cause you sasid apple red, Caramel apples might be cool! A freinds sister had an ice cream sundae booth set up at hers, I thought that was a cool idea, some times unique treats work to stand out!
Maybe for the favors, make some masks in your wedding colors. Like in Phantom of the opera (with the stick to hold it up). People will have fun holding them up to pose for pictures. And you can get really creative with them.
have an opera singing santa to give out your favours.
Have your wedding cake look and be shaped like an opera mask? Favors could be iced and decorated sugar cookies in shapes of opera masks or anything opera?
Gourmet Cupcakes (The company Sprinkles comes to mind if you have a location near by).

Okay the last two were jokes. Where is your honeymoon? If Mexico, perhaps you could provide a bottle of kahluha or tequila per couple as a favor. Include a tag that says something to the effect of their celebrating in spirit with you.

Or go to a winery and have wine made with your label. Send a bottle home with the guests.

pssst: If children will be attending, make gift baskets or buckets with crayons, color books, and other inexpensive distractions. You can find great things for great deals if you shop smart, and the parents, children, and you will all be grateful.
Opera singers, check with local universities and theater groups. Mimes all dressed in gold with gold faces. Rent period costumes for serving staff. Request guests wear opera style clothing. Not everyone will dress up but I've been to fun dress up weddings. Lots of people will make the effort. Renting clothes is less expensive then buying new ones and your photos will be memorable. Have simple red, black, gold and white masks as table decor and favors These might even function as place cards. Include oversized champagne glasses, pearls and/or diamonds as part of your theme. Opera is very dramatic so lighting could be a big part of your decorating scheme. You might be able to find a theater student to help you with lighting and ideas inexpensively. Long stemmed red and white roses in crystal vases with shimmery gold accents. Black overlays with red rose petals on the tables. Individual or table sized wedding cakes.
Get a neat Ice sculpture
I would try your wedding cake being a bunch of cheese cakes with different toppings. We were going to do this but thought of it to late.

Also, how did you guys meet? Was your proposal done differently?

Just think about things you guys do or how special things in your relationship have taken place. I was engaged at Niagara Falls and we met online so we could give out wedding favors in computer looking boxes or internet program for yahoo..something like that. My wedding favors were seed packets with our names, wedding date and photo on it.
I would definitely suggest the multiple desert thing with a small wedding cake not only is it less expensive but most people just don't really like cake try pies, cheescakes, dessert rolls, candies, petit fours, whatever you like it worked out really well at my wedding.
Well if crazy and unique is what you want but still want the wedding cake why not have an upside down wedding cake made where the bottom layer is the smallest and the top layer the biggest. It might take a little while to find someone who could do it, but it would be really neat.

Here is a website that I found where a lady does it, you can get an idea of what it could look like: http://www.seventhheavencakes.com/cgi-bi...

You could also get creative with the cake topper, try to find one of the groom running away or something other than the two figures just sitting there....

Or if you want to cut down on cost but still want something cake like why not do a cup cake tower. Wal-Mart did have the stands, if not any party/craft store should have them.

Why have ancient theatres been destroyed so often by fire?

路 Bolshoi Theatre - 1825

路 Royal Opera House - 1858

路 Mariinsky (Kirov) Theatre - 1860

路 Palais Garnier (one of the Op茅ra de Paris) - 1875

All of them were built or re-built after their predecessors found their fates among flames. Why was it so common and what did they do around the middle of the 19th century that stopped this trend?

Why have ancient theatres been destroyed so often by fire?classical music

Before electricity was widespread, theaters often used live flames and torches to provide their stage lights. Combine with that the fact that most of these theaters were made mostly of wood and had a lot of other flammable objects inside (costumes, any papers, chemicals for paint and effects...) its more a wonder that MORE theaters didn't meet a fiery fate.

Why have ancient theatres been destroyed so often by fire?ms stress opera theater

wooden
they dnt have fire alarms?
those theatres is made up of wood and fires can grow fast in wooden things
it all centers around the 'Scottish Play' i.e. Macbeth. Which has a curse on it and will destroy buildings and people who make fun of it. This curse was placed on the play by one of the origional witches in the story who was afronted by not being paid by Shakespeare when the story was obviously based on her and her sisters. The trend stopped when the play became popular. The curse dissipated due to overuse.
Insurance scams probably.

Even our very own Wm.Shakespeare experienced this. Having spent a load of capital building the new Globe Theatre here on London's Bank-Side, the place got burnt down on day one when a cannon was fired on stage. The sparks set fire to the thatched roof and the whole thing was a blazing inferno in only a few minutes.

Back in those days you had to buy insurance and it was the insurance company fire crew who arrived to put it out. But they would first check the outside of your building to see if you had their 'badge', if not, sorry, they went away again.

Not sure if Will had any insurance or not.

Nice blaze tho' for the local pyromaniacs.
As said wooden buildings and a reliance on flames (lanterns, candles and torches) for lighting and effects.

By the way I do not think any of these were ancient as such; most ancient theatres were stone and remains are still seen today. 'Historical' would be a better term.

Note also that the use of celluloid film in early cinemas led to a number of (sometimes tragic) fires; celluloid fiolm being almost explosively inflammable.
insurance purposes
It is due to the use of gaslights as footlights on the stage, and the use of flaming lime (limelight) to make spotlights. All above stated theaters burned during the period when these things were used. People also caught fire in the footlights, notably Emma Livry, a ballerina at the Paris Opera, whose skirt caught fire. 9 months later she died from the burns.
They had to have dozens, if not hundreds of reflector lamps to illuminate the stage, and of course, almost all building had wooden frames, so when they burned, they went up fast!

In the early 20th century, fire in a theater was still so common, and so dreaded, that Oliver Wendell Homes (great American Jurist) said "Freedom of speech does not allow a man to yell "Fire!" in a crowded theater."

I already Voted. I hope Statue of Liberty wins since it is in the USA. We dont have as many wonders of the world unless you count Grand Canyon or the Everglades, or some of the other tourist attractions.

I also like Chichen Itza (been there), Stonehenge (want to go) and the Great Wall (want to go).

Cant wait to find out.
I can't even guess. I can only say I HOPE it's the Statue of Liberty.
you forgot to put down 22)The Allblacks. yeeaaahh.
i don't want to jinx it so i won't say anything.

i hope is something ancient.
The great wall
its very difficult to judge which ones to include or exclude these all are so brilliant - each unique in their own way , but my picks will be -

The Colosseum

Stonehenge

The Great Wall

The Taj Mahal

Timbuktu

The Pyramids of Giza

The Statue of Christ Redeemer

The Great Wall and Machu Picchu wouldn't surprise me. I hope those two and the Pyramids of Giza win.
Hmm,I pick this seven

The Acropolis

The Statue of Liberty

The Taj Mahal

Angkor Wat

The Great Wall of China

Stonehenge

The Eiffel Tower

Hope SOME of this can win!
1)Acropolis

2)Hagia Sophia

3)Colosseum

4)Taj Mahal

5)Eiffel tower

6)Statue of Liberty

7)The great wall
This may be something that never knew about the New 7 Wonders

http://www.agnisharman.com/new7wonders.h...
CHICHEN ITZA defintetly, It's incredible and can be compared to the pyramids in Egypt. Machu Pichu and the Great Wall of China are also great.

The Statue of Liberty, Eiffel Tower and Sydney Opera House shouldn't even be there.
It's obvious that the statue of Liberty, The Eiffel tower and the Statue of Christ Reddemer shouldn't win. We are talking about ancient history. The Colosseun, Machu Picchu, Chichen Itza, The great wall.. that's history. I understand we want our statue of liberty to be one of them because we are americans, but let's been realistic that wouldn't be fair. Any good architecture could design something like that, so when you vote think first..... and pick thinking on history, how the incas made machu piccu or about how the mayas made Chichen Itza, abt the stonehenge how did they bring those stones together! Think first and then vote.... not something it was just built after the 1800's....
it will probably be the ones built using primitive technology or very beautiful sites. that leaves out the kremlin, sydney opera house, statue of liberty, and the eiffel tower already

i go for macchu, easter island, chichen itza, stonehenge, acropolis, angkor wat, and taj mahal

Does Brisbane have an international landmark apart from the storey bridge?

Sydney has the opera house, Melbourne the Rialto, How is Brisbane recognised on the world stage?

Does Brisbane have an international landmark apart from the storey bridge?greek theater opera theater

Its not in Brisbane but close. Surfers Paradise and Steve Irwins Zoo. Brisbane doesn't seem to have as many landmarks as other cities. It is still a nice city to visit though
The Goldcoast has the Q1 tower . The largest residential building in the world but I believe Dubai is going to beat that and Just above Brisbane is The Glass house Mountains they are an unusual site. Also Brisbane has Mount Cootha that you can drive up to view Brisbane, So as far as the world stage goes nothing that comes close to the seven wonders of the world but never the less it's the Capital of Queensland which housesThe Great barrier Reef. So I think we do alright
If you need a landmark to attract you to Brisbane, then there's little hope for you. Brisbane has become a world city just by being itself. We don't need flashy landmarks to advertise.
nothing really except for Q1 at the gold coast which is the tallest residentual building in the world. To the person above me, you are talking about the Burj Al Arab in the UAE, that is the tallest hotel, so we are still on top. I'd love to go to Dubai.

Which one would you choose?

Taj Mahal

Leaning Tower of Piza

The Great Sphinx

The Eiffel Tower

The Washington Monument

Arc de Triomphe (Arch de Triumph)

Big Ben

Sydney Opera House

Statue of Liberty: Symbol of freedom which we all desire.

Great Wall of China: Symbol of the lengths we will go to seemingly protect and isolate ourselves.
I would choose The Washington Monument - I lived in the DC area for a while. Just the different stones and history behind it are interesting; and it is close to home.

Two others:

The Colosseum in Rome, Italy - just plain beautiful; it is so interesting how the side of the Colosseum is constructed

Abu Simbel Temple in Egypt - If you have not seen it, you need to google it. The carvings of the ancient people is exquisite.

Australia (Sydney) New Years Celebration???

I have been seeing numerous pictures of a Dimond in a coat hanger over the sydne opera house during their 2007 celebration. my question is can anybody tell me what it stands for?

Australia (Sydney) New Years Celebration???say yes

Hey Twinkle. Not an Aussie? The bridge was given the nickname The coathanger years ago because of its shape. Similarly people from New South Wales, particularly Sydney siders are also called coathangers. This year is the Diamond Anniversary of the bridge. It is 75yrs old or something. Funny alien joke? Star it if you like it?

Okay, there's these 3 aliens. Their mission is to go to earth and learn one earth phrase and see what humans do.

The first alien went to an Opera house where it learned how to say, "Me me me me me!".

The second alien went to a dinner where it learned how to say, "Forks, knives, and spoons!"

The third alien went to a candy shop where it learned how to say, "Goody-goody gumdrops!"

Now, a couple of cops noticed the aliens looked a lot like three convicts who escaped from prison after killing a man.

They asked the first lien, "Who did it?"

The alien replied ,"Me me me me me!"

Then the cops asked the second alien, "How did he do it?"

The alien replied, "Forks, knives, and spoons!"

Then the cops said, "I've got bad news, you're all going back to jail."

The third alien replied, "Goody-goody gumdrops!"

Now, star this question if you liked it please!!

Pink Floyd, final gig of the 'Animals' tour, Montreal Forum 1976/7?

Why? Other than the music, and being fairly close to the stage, the floating animals were really cool. And oh yeah, the acid was great there too!
Ozzfest 06 - Moshpits

Badfish (Sublime Tribute) - front row :) and amazing music
I am a HUGE Queensryche fan and have been to just about every concert when they came to town. If you want to talk about a band that always follows their heart and instincts when it comes to creating music this is it! They don't worry about if it will sell or not, that is not their focus. Their concerts are full of energy, and I always have a great time.

On the way other end of the spectrum, last year I went to a Big and Rich concert, and was completely impressed. For 'country' music, they put on a great live show, complete with heavy guitar and pyrotechnics. I would see them again.

Like when I bought some tickets for Trivium the black crusade tour. It said BLK 15 in the section bit. Don't worry about it I say :).

As for the tickets not running together, they always ask you whether you want to search for the best available option or if you want to be seated next to each other. Maybe you could ring ticketmaster and ask for a change. I'm not sure if they will do but it's worth a try.

Hey Chicago people, I have a visitor question?

I want to visit the city around early November and want to see Buckingham fountain at night but I'm not sure if the fountain is open around that time of year. Is it, and if so is it very pleasant or worth seeing this late in the calendar? Also, what鈥檚 the best way to get around the city in one day? I will be visiting the Opera house, the Sears Tower, and I hope the fountain. Wasn't for sure what the best way to move around was.

Hey Chicago people, I have a visitor question?headache

Sorry about the fountain...it will not be on in November. It will probably be pretty cold by then.

If you want to get around the city, buy an all-day pass from the CTA (Chicago Transportation Authority). It's like $5 and you can use it for 24hrs. Then walk where you need to go. Make sure you dress warm and in layers. Take a map of the L and of Chicago...believe me, Chicago is one of the easiest cities to naviagate. Plus, us Chicagoans are nice and always happy to point you in the right direction!!

Hey Chicago people, I have a visitor question?paramount theater opera theater

The fountain is usually closed by October 1st. Last year the weather was nice, so they kept it open a little longer.

But pretty much by November, it's done.

Best way to get around the city in one day is by cab. If you knew your way around, I'd suggest the el or bus, but since you're visiting, go with the cab.
I've lived in Chicago off and on my whole life and i've never seen the fountain at night, but it IS beautiful. So is the Sears Tower, and i LOVE LOVE the pier.

Best way to get around the city, i would choose a car, but the subway is good too. Less Hassle.
Yeah, it closes in October usually, and when I'm downtown I walk or take the L.
The fountain is closed in November. Try coming to Chicago in July or August. The view and weather is much nicer, and it's more to see and do. Take CTA. It's a hell of a lot cheaper than a cab or car. The cab fares and parking prices are ridiculous!

The Golden Ratio is also a subject matter that we should keep in mind when we think of organic designs.

Make a model of....??opera ticket opera theater

You are going to have the same problems they had in building it - it is compound curves all over the place.

All of the following is ways of making those curved shells.

I would have to suggest either finding a curved surface that matches what you need - say a large bowl or car hood or fender - and make a master mold, like of paper mache.

An alternative would be to get sand, make it wet and pack it and push it to make a shape of the curved parts, then cover it with plastic and use paper mache to make a master mold (or the pieces if you keep the sand from drying out.

On the master mold you can use thin plastic to keep it in good shape and use either paper mache or roll out thin clay and lay it - like this:

http://users.ticnet.com/mikefirth/warmgl...

the problem with thin clay being that it is very fragile and has to be fired. I have not tried rolling polyclay that can be hardened in oven.

What was the motto of Saya's family in the anime Blood+?

How does the film Sunshine end where you live?binoculars

Well here in the United States (in Texas), the film ends with the lead characters sister standing in a snow covered park and looking up at the sun as it gets brighter. I don't know if that's Sydney, Australia or not because I don't remember seeing any Opera House.

Blood+ Ending Question...?

What do you think bout the ending of blood +?

Personally, its a bittersweet ending... Its kinda sad that Haji has to wait for Saya for another 30 years... Doesn't he get tired of waiting for her???

But you can really see his devotion towards Saya.. It really made me sad when Haji said to Saya "I love you" when the opera house was about to collapse...

The fighting scenes... I still want to see more fighting but its okay... If they made it too dramatic and long, it will be so boring...

Anywayz... What's your opinion Blood + fans???

Blood+ Ending Question...?performing arts center

I loved the ending, it really made me happy, because I REALLY thought Haji was dead (and why was he impaled so many times?? That had to have been annoying) . As soon as I saw the rose, it made me burst into tears. It was just really sweet. It does suck that he has to wait for 30 years, but at least it'll be a nice surprise for her when she does wake up, if she doesn't already know. The details of the last episode are a little fuzzy. She'll also have Kai and her little nieces (they're so cute!) and her nieces will be with her for a long time, too.

I also loved how David and Julia got together, but it wasn't like I was surprised it was more like "FINALLY!" David seemed to be pretty oblivious now that I look at it. I swear Julia had her boobs out in every episode, and he didn't even give the slightest interest. Sorry, had to throw that in too. All in all, it's a great ending because not only is Haji waiting but so is the rest of her family.

it was pretty interesting that kai decided to take care of the twins after all of that. kind of makes you wonder how they're gonna be when they grow up but still not enough reason for another season.

If you selected "will call" for your ticket purchase, you need to pick them up at the venue box office before the show. Plan on arriving at least 30-60 minutes before the show in case there is a line at the box office. As general information, be sure to have a photo ID and (maybe) the credit card you used for purchase.
which option did you choose? mailed to you? will call? e-ticket? you should probably know this info already.

Any ideas on how to fundraise for a trip to Germany?

My German Class is taking a trip to Germany and my parents are already sending my brother to Australia (the band at our school was chosen to play at the Sydney Opera House and is one of only 5 world wide high schools playing there so this is really really cool to go). I however have a conflict that I can't go to Germany unless I come up with the money. I need ideas on how to get $350 by next February and an additional $2000 by next July. I can't get a job because baseball and school takes up pretty much all my time even in the winter because I'm working out to make the high school team.

Any ideas on how to fundraise for a trip to Germany?palace theatre

First come up with a plan how you can make the money let's say by the end of 2008. Car washing is an option, not mine though. You can sell people's stuff on eBay and get a commission. Talk to your friends and look into your hobby - you might come with something that can $3000 richer ... after all it's just a $58 a week. May be even give a $10 lessons to younger kids who learn to play baseball (talk yo parents of kids in elementary school).

Now when you have a good plan (put it on a paper) run to your parents and tell that you have a how to make 3K and ask them to lend you the money that you will return WITH INTEREST. I don't know you parents, but they probably would not take interest but will take you a bit differently. See how the respond if they start with "yes, but..." just go on with negotiation. All you need know is to make them pay that $350 and work out the details later. It might be that by July you would be able to pay them back and make 2K. That should be your goal.

Best of luck!

well, hold an all-day car wash or something.
First get some friends together! Go to a local shop on the main street that has a hose connection and do a marathon car wash event. Make sure you have lots of soap, towels and buckets.

Then ask your parents for an advance on your car washing income.
If you can't get a job then you cannot go to Germany.

What else do Type O Negative fans listen to?

I LOVE Type O Negative (to death :)

I want to hear more of this "Gothic Doom metal" (as categorized by Wikipedia) Any suggestions? So far I have heard the 69 eyes (good but vocals not quite as awesome as Pete) HIM (same, nor quite as heavy as T O N) and am currently downloading some moi dix mois cuz the album cover looks like it sounds awesome. Anything you can listen to that reminds you of a haunted opera house, or running through the woods in a 17th century gown and howling at the moon, know what I mean?

Also, I like unique sounding vocals, (I find Lacuna Coil a little dull that way.)

I'm with rckets on this, most type O fans listen to a variety of music. Some suggestions of bands in the same genre are:

Paradise Lost

My Dying Bride

Sepultura

Slayer

Tiamat

Machine Head

The Gathering

Love this band! We listen to all sorts of things. My top 20 is listed on my 360 page. Type O is something of an original. Not a ton of bands doing the exact same thing they are, which is a part of what makes them so special. You might want to try Sisters of Mercy, his voice is haunting like Pete's. Personally, I try to avoid howling at the moon too often as the neighbors will give me creepy looks.
My Life with the Thrill Kill Cult, Sisters of Mercy, Ministry, Cradle of Filth and so on...
As lovnrckets stated, there aren't too many bands that sound like Type O Negative. But you mentioned some of the groups that came to mind. You'd probably like albums by HIM like "Greatest Lovesongs Vol. 666", "Razorblade Romance" or "Venus Doom." You might also try Danzig, I hear a lot of his influence on TON's "Bloody Kisses" album. And ofcourse The 69 Eyes album "Devils" is very similar to Danzig.

I'm going to spend 3 days in Sydney; what should i see?

So i have a total of 9 days to see these three beautiful cities....i was thinking 3 days in each city. I will be going in December which would make it summer there.

In Sydney, i was hoping to see:

Sydney Harbour and Opera House (not climb the bridge cuz apparently its too expensive)

City Centre

Kings Cross

Bondi Beach

Darling harbour

Chatswood

What other places should i see in Sydney...also where are the best nightclubs/bars/entertaintment? Also, I wanted a hotel/motel that would be really cheap since I'd be out all day so which/where would be the best hotels/motels?

I'm going to spend 3 days in Sydney; what should i see?state theatre

It's very important to stay in the city, that way you can party hard and then catch a cab back to your hotel. I personally recommend Wakeup Backpackers, rooms are neat plus you'll meet heaps of people down at the Side Bar. Book in advance coz they're always busy during summer. Otherwise there is the YHA Hotel down the road. They're both on George St right on front of Central station where you can catch a train to the Blue Mountains. You can also walk or catch a bus to Darling Harbour (where you'll find a few posh bars %26amp; restaurants), Cir Quay (catch the ferry to Manly, it's worth it), Paddington (where all the clubs are. Watch out for gey bars, unless you are into that kind of thing). You can't miss going to Bondi beach too which is close to Paddington, but make sure to pump some weights before you go coz there are a lot of hotties around.

The smart thing to do is to plan some day activities close by, go bank to your hotel, make yoursef slinky and then party hard all night. Plan also a few things in case it rains (like going shopping to Chatswood Chase or Bondi Westfield).

Last word of advice; some tour companies will try to get you drunk first and then suck as much money from you as possible so I would avoid them. But it doesn't hurt going to a travel desk and pickup a few brouchers in case you run out of toilet paper.

Have a blast man %26amp; peace out!

I'm going to spend 3 days in Sydney; what should i see?theater opera theater

You won't be able to see all of those places in only three days.

Don't bother going to Chatswood.

In one day you should go to the city, then you can see the harbour bridge, Opera House and Luna Park. Yes climbing the bridge is expensive but its totally worth it.

Maybe you could go to Manly? You can get a ferry from the city (near the opera house) across straight to Manly beach. That's pretty nice there and they have shopping too.

Kings Cross has good nightclubs but I'm not sure about hotels.

Have fun =] =]
Re: hotels - do you want a backpacker type hotel or a proper room of your own? Book something on the internet, definitely cheaper.

You can check 3dworld.com.au for some cool clubs in the city.

I wouldn't bother going to Chatswood - nothing there except some shops, if you want to do some shopping in the city go to the Pitt St Mall.
Head out west to the Blue Mtns

Don't bother going to Chatswood. Nothing interesting there.
The Metro Inn at Edgecliff is 89 dollars for a double room and you can easily get into the city by train( Edgecliff/Kings Cross/Martin Place or further would be Town Hall and Central) or by Bus 324 to Circular Quay from outside the railways station. Edgecliff is in the eastern suburbs, and you can easily get to Kings Cross,Bondi Beach ,Double Bay.

In 3 days I would suggest that you catch the Ferry to Manly. A lovely place and you get good photo shots of the Bridge and the Opera House.Walk around Circular Quay and The Rocks area and go to Darling Harbour. You should do a day tour to The Blue Mountains see www.sydneytoursrus.com for a great day out.

In the city centre go to The Strand Arcade and the QV building.

Other places to see and do are: Botanical Gardens,The Aquarium, Oxford Street the Gay Quarter/Hyde Park and Hyde Park Barracks or take another ferry to Watson's Bay for the famous Doyles Fish and Chips Have a lovely time

For a great view of Sydney at night go at dusk to the Shangri La Hotel in the Rocks to the bar on the 35th Floor for the best view of the Bridge and Opera House in Sydney. You do not have to be staying at the hotel.

You don't say what other cities you are visiting?
With only 3 days in Sydney you need to be really efficient with your time. The Sydney Red Explorer is the best way to do this. These buses go around a circle visiting 27 top sights in Sydney. You can jump on / jump off all day for AU$34. Pick the places you want to see, get off for 20 or 40 or 60 minutes etc then get back on another bus. There is another one that goes out Bondi way. Definately catch the local ferries - they're cheap and you get out on the harbour which is a great way to see the harbour.
NORTHERN BEACHES.

day 9- Depart Sydney

Where abouts are you arriving from?

If you're coming from overseas and there is a risk of jetlag, then I consider doing day 5 on the first day instead. It's a far easier day if you're tired.

The only other thing is that the trips to the Hunter and Blue Mountains are going to be pretty rushed. Personally, I dont think the Hunter Valley is that great. The wine is pretty good, but unless you're a big wine fan, it's a long way to travel for not much.

From my point of view, Id would consider staying overnight in the Katoomba (Blue Mountains). It will give you more time to take in the scenery (stunning) and explore. Plus, it's a nice relaxing spot at night when all the day trippers leave.

Alternatively, if you still want to do the Hunter Valley as well, then Id consider dropping the Olympic Park tour. Olympic Park isnt really that impressive (Just a bunch of big concrete stadiums) and people dont really go there unless an event is on there.

Of course, I dont know what you're interested in so my choices might not fit yours, but these are a few things to consider.

Have fun, and welcome.

Day 4- might be very rushed, you should allow a couple of days in the Blue Mountains.

Day 1- Just a reminder that if you land at 8am, it'll be closer to 10 or 11am before you get to the city.
All are possible. Try to slot in a Harbour Bridge climb. The bike tour of the Olympic park looks a bit underwhelming, but I have not done it so it may be the high point of your trip for all I know.
Do you have all the tours set up already? A native might be able to give you better idea of how feasible your schedule is. There are a few Syndey guides here:

http://www.viamigo.com/tours/Sydney.html

who can look at your itinerary and make appropriate suggestions. They might also give you the opportunity to see something aside from the major spots like the Taronga Zoo, the Sky Safari, Hunter Valley, the Blue Mountains, Sydney Tower and Harbour, etc that only a local would know about. :)

Who is turning off there lights at 8pm to 9pm for earth hour?

In about 15 mins it'll be 8 here in st louis and my lights are going off.

"On 31 March 2007, 2.2 million people and 2100 Sydney businesses turned off their lights for one hour - Earth Hour. This massive collective effort reduced Sydney's energy consumption by 10.2% for one hour, which is the equivalent effect of taking 48,000 cars off the road for a year. With Sydney icons like the Harbour Bridge and Opera House turning their lights off, and unique events such as weddings by candlelight, the world took notice. Inspired by the collective effort of millions of Sydneysiders, many major global cities are joining Earth Hour in 2008, turning a symbolic event into a global movement."

This is just another tool to train us. Soon they'll be turning our lights off for us. Man-made global warming is only a theory and is not widely accepted. The earth is warming, but so are other planets. Al Gore's info has been tweaked quite a bit. A carbon footprint is merely the shadow of bondage.
I have to do homework. How about I just go to bed an hour early?
I have turned on every light in the house for the last hour and a half and I have washed two loads of laundry with warm water so far. Next I am gonna crank up the hot tub and take a relaxing soak while I enjoy a glass of wine. I figure that I have done my part to protest this politically motivated b u l l s h i t.

Will the organizers of Earth Hour purchase a carbon offset for the increase in carbon caused by thei

"In Sydney, where an estimated 2.2 million observed the blackout last year, officials said it appeared at least as popular this time, involving untold candlelight dinners and beach-bonfire parties. The city's two architectural icons, the Opera House and Harbour Bridge, faded to black."

http://www.dailybreeze.com/ci_8745468?so...

What on Earth makes people think that candles or bonfires are somehow more efficient than modern lights and electrical plants? Is anyone taking into account that turning off your lights doesn't the electricity from flowing through all the lines?

No, the Earth worshipers are also quite hypocritical - as evidenced by Al Gore's extravagant lifestyle

Well you see the purpose was not to effectively reduce electrical consumption for that hour, the purpose was to draw attention to an issue. No one expects anyone to think that candles are more efficient....
I've never even heard of Earth Hour.

Gosh, I hate environmentalists as much as liberals, although they are often one in the same. They don't know the facts and only believe what they want to. They are so hypocritical.
I know... but it was to show unification for the cause... not to actually save energy.
