just to let you know Maori culture only relates to New Zealand,Australia is a total different country and any New Zealanders living here are considered foreigners like any one else from overseas,I'm Australian and I'm married to a Kiwi (New Zealander) and i can tell you we don't like being referred to as new zealanders and like wise for the Kiwi's being called Aussies,in Australia the native culture is Aboriginal and in new zealand its the Maori culture both countries are great and I'm sure you'll love both of them but maybe do a little research before you go-enjoy your trip :)

p.s a Hangi is a traditional Maori way of cooking, where they dig a large hole and put hot coals in then they put the food in wrapped in leaves (normally banana) then more coals and cover the hole in and let cook for hours-un-believable meat it just falls apart it so tender you'll love it

Hey bro.. i think i might b able to help you with some of these questions.. i am Maori an live here in New Zealand.. Waitomo caves are actuall caves you will get to go in and have a look into.. i really suggest you check those out!! Rotorua is a beutiful place hea.. it has thermal hot pools, mud pools, the skyline gondolas, Agrodome.. thats when you hope inside a huge see-thro inflated ball and roll down a huge hill..lotta fun!! the underwater oceanarium is in auckland!! you walk thru a tunnel under the ocean its kool!! you see all types of fish, sharks ,stingrays.. heaps of stuff!! and a Hangi is our traditional meal!! It was the way our ancestors used to cook meals!! Its cook in the ground with hot stones at the bottom, all the food is placed in the hole.. You have to try this when you come here!!! cant help with your austrlia questions tho..sorry!!!

Hope this helped tho..

p.s.. just quickly wana teach you something..

'Kia-ora' is 'Hello' in Maori.. (Ki-Ah.. O-Raa).. kool!!!

hope you enjoy your time when you arrive here!!!..
Just google it
Australia is not part of New Zealand and vice versa. They are separate countries, each with their own laws, governments, cultures and politics.

There's a massive amount of information on the internet regarding the tourist attractions you mention as well as maori culture in New Zealand. The web can answer you much more than any of us can in a few words.

Enjoy your holiday.
